The Story Behind Mil101

Mil101 is an eyewear brand inspired by where my story began.

The name was born in Calle Bolívar, Door Number 1101, in La Paz, Bolivia, the heart of South America. That’s where my brother and I were raised by our grandparents in a small home filled with love, resilience and values that still guide me today. In Spanish, mil means “one thousand”, so 1101 became Mil101 — a name that carries my roots with me wherever I go.

Bolivia is a place of striking contrasts: from the Andes and the presence of Illimani Mountain to its colour, culture and resilient people, it leaves a mark on you. It’s bold and authentic, and that’s exactly what I wanted Mil101 to feel like. If you’ve ever stood in La Paz, you’ll know the feeling of looking up at Illimani watching over the city. Strong, timeless and always present, that mountain became the inspiration for the ‘M’ in our logo — a symbol of strength, home and the foundation on which this brand was built.

Just like Bolivia, our sunglasses are designed to stand out without trying too hard. Clean, simple designs are brought to life with bold colours and distinctive styles that catch the eye. They’re made for people who appreciate individuality, confidence and quality — not just another pair of sunglasses, but something with meaning behind it.

Although my grandparents’ home was sold in 2026, what it gave me can never be taken away. Mil101 keeps that story alive. Every pair represents where I come from, the people who raised me, and the journey that began behind Door No. 1101.
